Give me Cloud, or Give me Death.
I want to live in the cloud, period. Gmail lets me file my personal email into the cloud. Bloglines.com enables my voracious habit of “reading the net” to occur when I log on any of several personal machines, Windows or Linux.
My IMAP work email keeps email in a VPN cloud, available from anywhere, but I have to carry around a bunch of funky “how to configure my IMAP client” secret sauce. Yeah, there’s a web system for work email, but it sucks so badly I never use it. (Ironically, the Google Gmail team did such an awesome job with Javascript and CSS that I totally LOVE their email interface. It’s better than the best dedicated email client I’ve used.
Local files and local applications are so YESTERDAY. I’m tired of attempting (unsuccessfully) to keep my laptop in sync with multiple personal PCs and my cool Simply MEPIS Linux box.
Give me cloud or give me death. It’s that simple.
