Why TransFlash Sucks
I really want removable memory as a feature on my ultra smart mobile phone. By “removeable” I mean REMOVEABLE, many many times. I’m not interested in TransFlash, which is billed as “semi-removeble.” Not to put too fine a point on it, but would you hire someone who is semi-ethical?
TransFlash can only be removed (and inserted) a few times. Why bother?

…you mentioned that a transflash could only be removed and inserted only a (FEW TIMES) …is that so? if so, why and how come? …Enlighten me. I don’t mean to sound so rude if ever you find my message so. Apologies.
A trans flash user….

Basically, the design goal of TransFlash i sto provide a removeable and upgradeable amount of flash in a small form factor. It’s a next-gen SIM card (used in GSM phones) that allows far more storage.
TransFlash is not designed to be handled a lot. Don’t be confused: it’s FAR better than flash soldered on a PC board of the mobile phone. But it’s not as portable or useable as SD or similar flash memory cards that tolerate hundreds of insertion/removal cycles

“Due to its very small size and substantial storage capacity, [TransFlash] is likely to remain in the handset for extended periods; however, it can easily be removed and inserted into another phone when consumers want to upgrade their phones.”
“For mobile phones with storage requirements that assume frequent card removal and data sharing between other consumer electronic devices, SanDisk offers its regular SD and miniSD as well as Memory Stick PRO Duo cards and MultiMediaCards.”
