Why TransFlash Sucks

I really want removable memory as a feature on my ultra smart mobile phone. By “removeable” I mean REMOVEABLE, many many times. I’m not interested in TransFlash, which is billed as “semi-removeble.” Not to put too fine a point on it, but would you hire someone who is semi-ethical?

iRiver 899 (Repeat) Glitch

The small rounded plastic part that covers the battery of my iRiver 899 MP3 player fell off within 24 hours of purchase. It took some persuasion, but bless ‘em, Best Buy made an exception to their policy. They ripped open a new package and gave me the missing plastic iRiver part. (Yes, I was that persistent and annoying. Sigh.) In return I bought a service agreement on sale for a ridiculously low price (under $10) and left the Best Buy store a happy, some might say BLISSFUL iRiver 899 owner.

Konfabulator

I am an unrepentant Windows XP user. But recently the buzz around Apple’s Tiger release of OS-X made me start to (ever so slightly) waver. Should I buy one of those cute Mac Minis just to play with OS-X? You can laugh, but the silly little feature that seemed most whizzy to me was Dashboard.
