Virtual or Real Life?

Yesterday evening I downloaded Second Life an online three dimensional, graphically intense virtual world in the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) category. This morning, first thing (well, SECOND thing, after reading The New York Times I cancelled my seven day trial membership in Second Life (affectionately called “SL” by the in crowd.)

Systm is a new service that provides video on demand via the Internetsphere. Think TechTV as video download. Why deliver content using broadcast TV which people then TiVo and then watch on demand when you can be your own Internet content network? [via HackaDay]

Almost all podcasts in mid-2005 are Vanity Audio on Demand. These pathetic attempts at a radio-like experince are so bad that American Idol producers would BURN THE DEMO TAPES (well, destroy the MP3 files).

Winer: Instant Outlines

Dave Winer’s OPML editor is an online collaboration tool based on shared instant outlines. It’s still rough around the edges, but Uncle Dave is on to something BIG. This could become a widely accepted alternative to e-mail for team collaortaion. I sense a blend of the charms of wikis and RSS feeds.
