Corinex is SHIPPING 200 Mbps data over powerline boxes. They got tired of waiting for HomePNA to complete the HomePlug/AV spec. Since they have working silicon, they formed Universal Powerline Association to build support for this technology.

Fuel Cells, Again

In addition to ReliOn, PlugPower is another telecom fuel cell vendor. The two companies have optimized their products in different ways. ReliOn capacity is 1.2 Kwatts (per unit) while PlugPower starts at 5 Kwatts. The guts of the ReliOn fuel cell is a modular, hot pluggable array. Very clever stuff, but reasonable people can disagree whether the extra flexibility is worth the added complexity.

(1) Skype has 171 employees (Verizon has 142,000 employees)
(2) 40 Million Skype users (same as Verizon)
(3) All other VoIP providers have 3 million subs.
(4) Skype is adding 200,000 per week (same number as Vonage in total)
(5) 1.5 Million paying SkypeOUT users now.
