H5N1 (Avian Flu) Pathogen in Wild Geese

From the BBC: “An outbreak of avian flu in wild geese in western China has raised fears that the virus responsible could soon spread beyond its Asian stronghold.”

“These birds [geese] can fly one thousand miles a day at maximum,” explained Yi Guan, of the University of Hong Kong, China.

Of potential events that might keep you awake at night, the harm from a global flu pandemic makes everything else look trivial.

Meanwhile, I’m worrying about whether to buy a Treo 650 or a Samsung i730. Sheesh.
