Poof Beyond a Resonable Doubt

(Very) early this Sunday morning I contrived a delightful morsel of blog food for YOU! Then after a single innocent but ill-conceived click in Firefox, my scintillating prose went Poof!

How many times must I re-learn this lesson? Writing entries in a browser window is Not Smart. So, a week or two ago I experimented with BlogJet as my “composition” front end. It’s not bad, but not my cup of tea. One annoyance: BlogJet didn’t post quickly to my WordPress blog. Apparently, that bug has now been fixed. But by the time I learned that fact I’d moved on.

Next stop was a spelling checker plug-in for WordPress. Not too shabby — it reminds me of Google e-mail’s spell checker. But the spell-check plug-in ate a couple posts! My ISP explains the plug-in send the entire post as a string to some other program on the server. Whoops, it FAILS if the length of the post exceeds a certain number of characters. When this happens, the entire text goes Poof!. No fun.

Microsoft Word is my new best friend.
