Aftermath of Katrina
The aftermath of Katrina is impossible to comprehend. The situation is desperate, and getting worse. There’s a growing wave of anger and disbelief across the nation.
We are not getting reliable information, so there’s not a way to judge the loss of life so far. The worst impact (not yet really visible) will be disease.
Government reaction after Katrina has been slow, disorganized and totally inadequate.
Our government is not able to cope with a disaster of this magnitude. The “what if” planning was totally inadequate.
People are already asking whether the billions now being spent in Iraq should be redirected here at home.
We face high gas prices, severe dislocations in multiple states, high unemployment and more dead and sick people than we can care for.
This may not be Armageddon, but it’s close. There’s nasty social and economic weather ahead. If the social fabric frays much more, we will soon see martial law in several states.
So, maybe I should wait before buying that fancy mobile phone I’ve been dreaming about? But if I stop buying, the economy will slow, there will be fewer jobs, housing prices will fall and we’ll spiral into deflation.
I really need to buy that Samsung i730 tomorrow. Maybe that will perk up my mood.

Yeah it was awful, the impact on the life of the people will take a while to heal.
Mind you the death of almost 1000 people in Iraq seems to be slipping all too quickly down the headlines.

Point taken. The panic on the bridge in Iraq proves that the only thing more dangerous than a suicide bomber is RUMOR of a suicide bomber. I’ll be The Bad Guys will file that tidbit away in ther book of dirty tricks.
