Lead Us Out of This Valley of Death

Dear President Bush,

Take charge.

Fire the head of FEMA immediately. Tonight. Do it on live TV.

Show us you are angry.

Prove to us that you will not let these people suffer any longer.

Appoint a strong leader who has instant credibility.

Give that person total responsibility and authority.

Be bold.

Declare martial law.

Call the CEOs of America’s 25 largest corporations.

Arrange a meeting within 24 hours.

Explain that our way of life is threatened.

Jawbone them into committing to a broad , bold plan to invest and rebuild.

Immediately divert resources from Iraq.

Don’t be shy, there’s not a single American who will object.

Be open. Get thee to New Orleans. On the ground.

Show compassion.

Lead us out of this valley of death.

Respectfully,

– Ron K. Jeffries

P.S. I voted for you, and strongly supported removing Sadaam. Now the war is in our heartland. We need your help.
Enough is enough.

I fear your pleas are falling on deaf ears – didn’t he fly over the area and not even set foot on the ground yesterday? Not exactly the “leader” you guys need right now.

I completely agree that the NO disaster spells the end of the war in Iraq. Even those of us who initially supported the war now must see that our failure to protect OUR OWN CITIZENS in OUR HOMELAND demands an end to that diversionary enterprise.

Bush and his policies are cooked, and rightfully so.

    Ah-man!

    But don’t hold your breath.
