Here’s an update on what actions Direct Relief is taking to assist victims of hurricanes Rita and Katrina.

“Working with frontline health clinics and hospitals that are stretching to care for tens of thousands of displaced persons throughout the Gulf Coast region, Direct Relief has furnished over 32 tons of emergency medical supplies worth $13.7 million (wholesale) through 29 separate shipments in response to specific requests from health facilities in the region.

“FedEx has provided extensive logistics and transportation support in response to the Katrina emergency. New Jersey-based BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) beyond their other significant contributions, drop-shipped a large emergency supply of products to treat diabetic patients being treated by a Eunice, Louisiana clinic that had requested assistance from Direct Relief.”
