My Del.icio.us Reconciliation

Not that long ago I announced my divorce from the online bookmark service del.icio.us. As of today, I’m seeking reconciliation.

I abandoned del.icio.us because it seemed just as easy to use a9.com or Google to search for a link I otherwise would have book marked. Here’s why that doesn’t always work.

A few times I’ve read about the open source (and free) Nvu web design tool. Over coffee today I decided I would download the tool and start using it for a couple of work related projects, and maybe also to refine the look and feel of my About page here on Cloudy Thinking.

My brain failed me in this simple project. I remembered the tool was called Vnu. I searched for Vnu and found that’s the name of a multimedia company. Next I tried searching for free HTML web design tools, using a few different combinations of search term. It was hopeless, as the results returned thousands of references, but I couldn’t quickly find what I wanted.

Next I tried Sourceforge.org, as I assumed the project was hosted there. Again, search failed me, even on a domain specific site.

Before giving up I tried del.icio.us. On my second or third search, I uncovered Nvu (as opposed to Vnu my brain had (mis) remembered).

Case closed, I am back in bed, so to speak, with my old pal del.icio.us.
