HP 6515
This Saturday I was finally able to play with a live HP 6515 thanks to a knowledge Cingular sales person. I like the (pricey! $499) HP 6515 a lot:
* Full QWERTY keyboard
* Bluetooth®
* GPRS/EDGE High-Speed Data Access
* Quad-band for international compatibility
* 1.3 MP camera with LED flash
* Integrated Secure Digital (SDIO) slot, integrated Mini-SD slot
* Mobile Instant Messaging using AOL® , Yahoo!® and ICQ® Instant Messaging
* Nice bright screen
* Integrated microphone, receiver, speaker, one 2.5 mm stereo headphone jack, MP3 stereo (through headphone jack)
* Includes Microsoft® Outlook 2002 and Microsoft® ActiveSync® 3.8 (Desktop device synchronization)
* HP Wireless Modem Application (for PC)
The keys are small but have a decent feel. The 6515 screen quality is great.
I thought this phone had GPS built in, but I don’t see that mentioned in the specs on line. It’s missing WiFi, but ,maybe they’ll offer that as a MiniSD card option.
The 6515 is close to a perfect 10. I like the built in flip protector for the screen, because I’ll carry the phone in my pocket. This Qwerty Phone is a definite “maybe.”
I need to see the Motorola Q, and the latest and greatest Blackberry (the buzz on the new Blackberry is VERY positive.) I’ve looked at The LG VX 9800 a couple of times and am not sure what I think. In a word: “Interesting.” (But not worth $495. by any means.)
The VX 9800 form factor is attractive because it allows a real “phone phone” to coexist with a Qwerty phone. You pay with a thicker device, but the design concept is sound.
