Thinking vs. Survival

Ethan Zuckerman reports (from Tunisia) this quip by Alan Kay:

[tease]

Kay puts forth the interesting proposition that “our brains aren’t designed for thinking - they’re designed for survival” - for making quick decisions, which aren’t necessarily the correct decisions.

A couple of other good Alan Kay quotes: (from other sources)

“Simple things should be simple. Complex things should be possible.”

“The best way to predict the future is to invent it!”
