Now Using Categories
Starting today I’m attempting to use the built-in “category” system WordPress provides.
Since I’ve “launched” (to use a grand term for an ultra-minor event) my ronj OpEd notebook (which ios using categories) I decided to also experiment with them here.
For openers I created an OpEd category. I’ve worked back through June 2005 and marked the posts “OpEd” that more or less fall in territory the new blog will cover in the future. There are 20+, which was a higher number than I expected.
The reaon I’ve avoided categories in this blog was a fear that using them, consistently wil be hard. A realted concvern is the “which category” question.
My thought as this experiment begins is to keep the category list very short and broad. Besides, I’ve been using free-form Technorati tags for a while.
Let me know what you think. I know none of you wioll, beciuase this is one of the most SILENT (low interaction between blog readers and blog writer) blogs on earth. But it doesn’t hurt to keep asking.

I don’t care because I use a RSS reader (doesn’t everybody?) and therefore can’t see your categories…

Interesting comment Jim. One frustrating side effect of RSS is I have limited to zero visibility as to who subscribes. It drives me crazy.
