What’s the ROI on a Pandemic?
Avian (bird) flu has hit the big time. Venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins has launched a $200 million “KPCB Pandemic and Bio Defense Fund.”

The goal of the new $200 million fund is to accelerate innovations for worldwide pandemic preparedness and global health over the next three years, with a focus on surveillance and detection, diagnostics, vaccines and drugs.
That’s pretty cool. Next thing you know we may see some really innovative VC funds:
The New Orleans Katrina Fund
Global Hunger and Poverty Fund
Child Abuse and Molestation Fund
Weapons of Mass Destruction Defense Fund
Zero Taxes for Very Wealthy Americans Fund
Free Speech in China Fund
Palestine and Israel Are Buddies Fund
Dirty Bomb Terrorism Fund
The Fox Truth in Media Fund
A-List Bloggers Help Newbies Fund
