Civil War in Iraq?

Iraq appears to be on the verge of civil war between the Shiite and Sunnis. Forbes has a good summary:

[tease]

As the gold dome of the 1,200-year-old Askariya shrine lay in ruins, leaders on both sides called for calm: But the string of back-and-forth attacks seemed to push the country closer to all-out civil war than at any point in the three years since the U.S.-led overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

Prediction: as Iraq tumbles into sectarian violence (aided by the bad guys, obviously) the US government will have a face-saving rationale for pulling out faster rather than slower. I’m not convinced that’s the correct response, but political reality in the USA is veering away from “stay the course” to “cut and run.”
