Jeff Clavier on Cingular 8125

Jeff Clavier writes about his experiences with the Cingular 8125 version of the HTC Wizard. He comments on some soft spots (sluggish CPU, not enough RAM) but there’s good news also.

[tease] (emphasis added)

When the O/S has not eaten all the RAM available, the sliding keyboard is of fantastic quality and the large screen makes the 8125 a great alternative to the Blackberry IMHO.

Be sure and read the comments about the similar Verizon 6700. It has a much faster CPU, and supports the faster EV-DO protocol for Internet access.

I’ve already reminded my IT guru that we need to implement Microsoft Exchange Sever (we run an open source Sendmail Internet mail server now). Without Exchange I won’t be able to fully exploit any Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone.

I’m anxious to get my hands on both the Motorola Q (a work of art, and not expensive…) and the HP 6915 (with GPS…), and the Verizon 6700 could be a player.

Selecting My Next Phone is not an easy project!

You are hereby on notice: I will NOT decide on My Next Phone until I see the SideKick III. That means you’ll e listening to me blather about my short list of phones for another 45 days.
