Hurd Dunn Sonsini Baskins & Hunsaker

Hurd Dunn Sonsini Baskins & Hunsaker – sounds like a big time law firm. right? Instead, it’s the Hewlitt Packard Ethical Hall of Shame.

Mark V. Hurd, HP CEO, who is adopting the Ken Lay (Enron) “I’m too stupid to be a CEO” defense in the unfolding HP leak probe tragedy.

Patricia C. Dunn, HP’s ex-Chairperson, who was positive everything was legal. Unfortunately she was too stupid to make sure her CEO knew what she was up to.

Larry W. Sonsini, Chairman of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the top law firm in Silicon Valley. Arguably the smartest guy in high-tech law. Unfortunately, it would appear Sonsini was not able to advise HP to keep their hands clean. Sad.

Ann O. Baskins, HP’s ex-Corporate Counsel, who was not smart enough to see the crazy risks she allowed the company to take in the dumb leak investigation.

Kevin T. Hunsaker, ex-senior lawyer and HP’s ex-director of ethics, who demonstrated he doesn’t understand any aspect of ethics.

Of the HP team, only Hurd is still employed. Too bad HP can’t find an equally good leader who does not invoke the Stupid CEO defense. Sad.
