Vista Deployment Indicator — “Not in 2007″

I use the SalesLogix customer relationship manager (CRM) system from Sage Software.

SLX is a pretty good CRM system. Not perfect, but we get a lot of work done with it. If it ran on Linux I’d be in love. But it’s intimately tied to Microsoft Windows. That brings us to to the “when will SLX be ported to Vista” discussion. That’s evidently a HUGE task.

On the SalesLogix developer list I read this hint that enterprise IT people are NOT enthusiastic about moving to Microsoft’s Vista

[tease]

“We do not have a single client that has any plans for Vista deployment for 2007. The only people I’ve heard who are interested are (a few) developers.”

Another developer chimes in:

“We are also not interested in deploying Vista, but it is not fun when the new notebooks start showing up with Vista on them and no one planned for it.”
