“Oh no, we can’t touch those” (Motorola engineer, refusing to try an iPhone)
A friend shared this Motorola factoid. I’ve edited it so nobody gets fired.
On a recent flight, I sat in the same row as some Motorola engineers. When they saw me turn off my iPhone, the floodgates opened.
They expressed incredible bitterness at how their company had flamed out in the mobile phone market. While happy to still have jobs, they had no confidence that Motorola would ever be able to recover market share.
We started talking about the pros and cons of soft keyboards vs. real keyboards. I offered to hand them my iPhone so they could play with it.
“Oh no, we can’t touch those. We’d get fired if anyone saw us using one.”
As my friend says, Motorola has issues.
