Judi Sohn:When did Facebook get mainstream?

Judi Sohn asks “When did Facebook get mainstream?”

I pretty much ignored Facebook until recently. But over the holidays something happened. one of my wife’s cousins asked my wife if she was on Facebook, because she had Hawaii pictures to share.

My wife set up a Facebook account, then another cousin became a friend, and then another, and another. My wife posted a clever baby + animal video of Facebook. That’s a big deal, as she’s never posted anything online, ever. (well that I know of. JOKE ALERT).

I said “I’m proud of you for figuring out how to post videos. Wow!

“But it was really easy,” she replied. “On YouTube there was a button that said “Post on Facebook?” and I clicked it.

Facebook has gone mainstream. By the way, it’s an impressive system. I regularly use Twitter and Friendfeed and Identi.ca, but now I’m also using Facebook, and I think it is cool beans.
