Felix Salmon on Cacophonous CNBC
Felix Salmon writes about Cacophonous CNBC. I have CNBC on for much of the business day. The yelling and screaming is obviously orchestrated, and tedious.
CNBC is home to some of the brightest financial journalists around. I just wish they’d include an hour or so of calm, well-reasoned discussion during the day.
But they have to sell ads. Evidently the contrived arguments, talking over each other (can you spell Larry “Free Market Capitalism” Kudlow) and general level of hype are done to pay the bills.
I will confess that Fast Money is my favorite show on CNBC. It shows you can be VERY high energy while remaining (for the most part) civil.
Maybe there’s an opportunity. I’ve been spending a lot of time reading finance and economic material, mainly blogs. I wish I could listen to a daily 30 minute cool, calm well-informed podcast that talks about what’s really going on, without pandering to the stock and bond trading zealots that CNBC serves so well.
Hmmm.
